If you fancy heading off the beaten track and visiting sites which are not included on our main GI Trail itinerary, this is the place for you! There are numerous sites scattered throughout Northern Ireland which have largely been forgotten about…this just means that you will have to do a bit more digging to find remnants of the US presence. Some locations will also require you to use your imagination, as unfortunately many signifigant buildings, artefacts and memoribilla are in ruins or have been demolished in recent years.
The more obscure GI sites for the Second World War enthuasists in Fermanagh and Tyrone are listed below. Please enjoying exploring these sites and the hidden history they hold, but please make sure to check access and ask permission to enter, as some locations listed are on private property.
