Portglenone Forest Memorial

If you fancy a stroll around a nice forest park on your GI journey, head to Portglenone forest where there is a small plaque dedicated to the American servicemen who didnt make it home. It can be found in the car park. During the war the American troops were rested here after the Italian campaign before returning to the D-Day Landings. The foundations of their nissen huts can still be seen throughout the wood.
